Terms
The terms, in plain words
What the registry does and does not do. Prices are on the About page, refunds on the Refunds page, and names on the Privacy page.
What an entry is
MinuteStamp is a novelty registry. An entry records one minute of one date, its number within that day, and the name chosen for it. It gives no legal right of any kind: not to the minute, not to the time it names, and not to anything that happened then. It is a record kept by this site, and it has no standing anywhere else.
One minute, once
Each of a day's 1440 minutes can be claimed once, on any date from 1 January 1950 to 31 December of next year; another year opens each 1 January. The registry refuses a second claim on a minute that is taken or being claimed. A minute held for a checkout that is never completed goes free again after the hold runs out.
What a claim costs
Prices are published in full on the About page, with the rule that sets them. The price of a minute never falls. What a claim costs is fixed the moment the claim is taken, held while checkout runs, and never recalculated afterwards: a later step changes what the date's other minutes cost, never what was paid.
Names and messages
A name and a line of message are shown on an entry only if the registrant chose to show them and a person has read them. Whoever claimed a minute can hide the name again, or show it, at any time from the private link in their receipt. What a name may be: Latin or Arabic letters, Chinese characters or Japanese kana, since those are what the certificate is drawn in.
What we may remove
We refuse or remove a name or message that is unlawful, that impersonates someone, or that is aimed at a person. Refusing one refunds the entry in full. When something is removed it goes from the entry page and the certificate at once, but copies that messaging apps and social networks already made of a shared link are theirs, and we cannot reach those.
If the registry ever closes
We intend to keep the registry running. If it ever has to close, we will say so on the site first and leave the certificates downloadable for as long as we can. An entry is a record here, not a promise that outlives the site.
Where this is run from
MinuteStamp is run from Quebec, Canada, and the laws of Quebec apply to it. Payments are taken by Paddle, which is the seller of record for the charge on your statement.
